The Best Green Juice

The Best Green Juice

Here is the best green juice recipe you’ve been looking for! It’s delicious and packed with skin-nourishing nutrients your whole body will love. This green juice is my favorite because the apple and lemon add just the right amount of sweetness to mask the bitter, nutrient-dense greens, while the ginger adds a little zing. If you’re not a fan of ginger, start with a small amount (1/2-inch piece) and work your way up to 1- to 2-inches. This antioxidant-rich ingredient contains anti-inflammatory properties and aids digestion (1).

NOTE: Always buy certified organic greens, celery, cucumbers, and apples to avoid pesticide exposure, as conventional varieties of these items are some of the most pesticide-contaminated foods in America according to the Environmental Working Group (EWG)

Organic Hair Salon Review & DIY Nourishing Hair Spray

Organic Hair Salon Review & DIY Nourishing Hair Spray

When you find a product or service you love, you share it right?! I have to tell you about my experience with Colby at Pure Organics Salon. Plus, I’m going to share my favorite DIY nourishing hair spray with you at the end of this post!

I’ve been highlighting and styling my hair for nearly 20 years. Like most women, I had NO CLUE about the harmful ingredients aka carcinogens (ingredients linked to cancer) and neurotoxins (ingredients known to poison our nervous system) I was applying to my body and breathing in every time I styled my hair or got it highlighted. I won’t go into detail here, but I encourage you to head over to the Environmental Working Group’s website and search “hair products.” They do an incredible job summarizing the research. You can also download the Think Dirty App and search for the products you’re currently using to determine whether or not they’re safe.

Enter Pure Organics Salon. I’ve been wanting to make the switch for YEARS. Who knew breaking up with your hairstylist would be SO HARD? I’ve been going to the same girl who I absolutely adore for 16+ years. It’s terrifying to go somewhere new. Will they be welcoming? Will this organic stuff even work?

Mind blown. Colby is beyond welcoming and talented. My hair is beautiful. The products that they use have NO smell. No burning. No headaches. 💃🏼 I’ve seen her twice now and I feel like she’s a sister from another mister. She speaks my crunchy, non-toxic language. We chat essential oils, dogs, fitness, and business. She’s incredibly sweet and down to earth. If you’re local to Buffalo and looking to make the switch, I highlight recommend!

So, how about that hair spray? This DIY nourishing hair spray is great for hair growth & makes my hair feel super soft. It’s incredibly simple to make and it smells incredible. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Chicken Soup Recipe

Chicken Soup Recipe

Homemade chicken soup is one of my favorite recipes to make this time of year. I like to make a big batch on Sunday, freeze half of it, and enjoy it for lunch all week! It’ll stay fresh for up to 4 days in the fridge, which is why I like to freeze half of it right away and thaw it out towards the end of the week. If you get bored with your lunches and like to switch things up, simply add a side salad made with a variety of chopped veggies and different salad dressings each day.

Now before I share my recipe, you have to know… I don’t consider myself a recipe developer or a chef. In fact, I’m terrible at measuring things when I cook. I’m the type of gal who likes to whip things up and taste as I go. A little more paprika, a little more pepper, a pinch more of sea salt…. and it’s perfect! That said, you may need to add more sea salt, spices, or fresh parsley than what’s listed below. I also prefer lots of veggies and don’t add noodles to my chicken soup, but feel free to add your favorite gluten-free pasta noodles or zucchini “noodles” to this recipe. Get creative and modify to your liking!

  • Add carrots, celery, paprika, onion powder, turmeric powder, sea salt, and pepper. Stir and continue to simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Remove chicken from the pot and check to ensure the chicken breast is cooked all the way through (cooking time varies based on the size of the chicken). Set aside to cool. Continue to simmer the stock and veggies for 15 minutes.
  • Once the chicken is cool, pick the meat off of the bones. Return the shredded chicken to the pot, stir together, and taste the broth. Add more sea salt and spices to taste.

DIY Lavender Linen Spray

DIY Lavender Linen Spray

Ok, so I may have a slight obsession with Lavender essential oil. I have Lavender-infused body soap, lotion, chapstick and facial serum, I diffuse it every evening to relax before bedtime, and I even make a homemade Honey Lavender Lemonade recipe that is to die for. Last year, I started making my own linen sprays to save money (I used to pay a hefty price for a tiny bottle from a fancy store) and I was shocked at just how easy it is to make at home.

So let’s get started so you can learn how to freshen fabrics in your home for just pennies and with simple ingredients. This recipe requires only three ingredients and takes less than two minutes to make. It can be used to spray on sheets, blankets, carpets, sofas, and pillows. It will leave your entire home smelling clean and fresh, without any harmful synthetic fragrances. #Winning

About The Ingredients

  • Lavender essential oil has a scent that’s fresh, clean, and relaxing. It eases feelings of tension and stress by instilling an overall sense of calm. It promotes total body relaxation and supports a restful night’s sleep.
  • Alcohol acts as a preservative. If you prefer to make this recipe without alcohol; use unscented witch hazel instead.

Supplies

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Combine the Lavender and grain alcohol (or witch hazel) in a clean glass spray bottle and swirl to combine.
  2. Fill with distilled water. Cap and shake well.

How To Use

Spritz on sheets, blankets, towels, and other linens. Shake well before each use.

Notes

With alcohol, this spray will last for months without the need for refrigeration.
